I have just earned a masters in human resource development but I only have 5 years of work experience and not much of it has involved using the skills and knowledge from my degree program. I finally found my passion but it seems like having the degree doesn't mean much.

How can I break into the field? I really enjoy conducting needs analyses, job analyses, and the instructional design process. If anyone would be willing to take a look at my resume and give me suggestions, I'd be very grateful.

Anniesbay,

I would suggest:

Summary of Qualifications
They will give your resume only about 15 to 20 seconds at best. So make sure your best is up front. The Best way is a "SUMMARY" that can be changed depending on job and emphasis.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Name of Employer Address Dates
Title:
Accomplishments:
example
* Decreased error rate 20% on wiget proceess threreby saving department $2.5 million.

( repeat the above for each employer using
what you have alreaady written on your
attachment as a basis.)

EDUCATION
formal school only ie GWU (NO DATES)

AWARDS

OTHER TRAINING

MILITARY
Never list references or personal information
such as health excellent. I have never seen
health half dead. You will need a specific resume for each job. constantly rewiew.

Anniesbay,

I tend to agree with Nero. You need to develop a strong summary of your qualifications and this needs to be the lead on your resume. When managers in HR are reviewing the hundreds of resumes they receive, they only have enough time to skim over them. You want your resume' to stand out from the rest.

The opening of my resume', I call it professional profile. I have changed the design of to catch the eye of the viewer.

Most importantly, never stop submitting, someone will give you an opportunity to prove yourself.

Anniesbay. To avoid the situation described by Griff. Seek to send your material to the decision maker for the particular position
you are seeking. Your better off.
