Hi there! Hoping someone might have some good advice. The powers that be in my organization have finally agreed that we need to do a skills assessment within our sales organization. We are growing and turning over quickly, and have about 40 sales people - our "one size fits all" quarterly training events just aren't as impactful as they could be.

We have a very clearly defined sales process (internally developed), and there is agreement that we should create and administer this internally as well. Any refereces/samples/websites that you would recommend that might be helpful to me? I'm a one-woman show and have little experience in this area.

Thanks!!

Working on something similar currently.

Please feel free to contact me, and we might be able to collaborate.

I do have extensive skills assessment (formal measured testing and evaluation feedback methodologies) experience.

You're really talking about two different things. Even if you did a skills assessment, it would mean your quarterly event would be more impactful.

The most impactful training events of this kind involve creating setting where salespeople can share ideas and best practices.

The other thing is that quarterly training events are usually held because they are logistically convenient. Training because it's convenient usually isn't very timely or relevant.

Lynne,

Here is a link to a page on our website with information on various assessment instruments and self-study programes we offer at no cost. You will be asked to fill out a form, once the form is complete click the submit button. On the next page you can select between free self study programs or assessment instruments; select assessment instruments. The instrument that will work best for you is the Management Training and Development Needs Analysis. It can be easily customized to fit your needs.
