Hi,
I was wondering if anyone is familiar with or has a observation checklist or evaluation for trainers. This is different from the evaluation that the trainee/student completes at the end of a class. This is more for a manager that would like to sit in on one or part of their trainers' class, say once a quarter as part of their overall development. I think it can be particularly useful, especially for new trainers, but I can’t seem to find one. Thanks in advance |

Hi, and welcome to the Forums!
I have used proprietary ones in the past. They were each somewhat different. For instance, one was basically a speaker evaluation form (of which there are many on the web), while another focused on content, still another included items for evaluating the trainer's ability to promote other events. Some evaluations I've seen include points regarding how particular types of activities were performed (e.g. computer-based hands-on activities). The latter had to be customized for the activities for a particular type of activity. All the evaluations I have used assumed that the evaluator was a master trainer. That may not be the case in all organizations. That said, one option might be to look the CPLP rubrics for Delivering Training. Another might be to go directly to the ASTD Learning System and extract the characteristics you want to evaluate. You might even consider evaluating different characteristics different quarters. So, my question is "what do you want to evaluate?" Hope that helps get you started. Please feel free to ask more questions. --john |
