I am working on creating a training session where the big theme is "Attention to Details". Before getting to industry/job specific fundamentals I would like to introduce the topic by using excerises/activities etc.
I seem to remember taking a quiz which hi-lighted what it would mean if certain job roles were less than 100% accurate using examples such as surgeons, airplanes etc. Does anyone have this or know where I can find it? Also, any other activities around paying attention to details would be helpful! Thanks! |

Roseann,
I think what you are looking for is part of almost all quality/six sigma awareness training programs. The information is usually a list of what happens with a 1% error rate. |

There is a great exercise on attention to detail where you right a list of tasks for the participants to carry out. At the start of the quiz you tell them to read through all of the questions and then start the quiz.
As the list goes on the tasks get more and more bizarre. When they get to the end the last question says "Only complete questions 1 and 2". This is a little old now, but really drives the point home. I once participated in an activity where written instructions were handed out by the facilitator to groups of two or three people. The group had to assemble something. The instructions were somewhat clear, but ambiguous. Different groups made different looking things because they interpreted the instructions differently. The point was that one had to write the instructions with good attention to detail, not just in the activities, but in the language itself.
