I was recently hired as the Director of Training and Development in a pharmacy managment and consulting firm. Until now, the company has had no formal training and development inititatives. They are looking at creating competencies for the hospital pharmacists out in the field. I have a background in training and development, but have never had to go through the process of developing competencies or an associated assessment tool. What are some good resources that are out there? Thanks.
I've used their materials and continue to use their book in every day work. Excellent resource. Additionally, there are people who are certified in conducting the card sorts and other things you need to do to establish the program.
I am a certified competency assessor and competency system verifier. I found the Scottish Qualification Authority very useful. http://www.sqa.org.uk/sqa/CCC_FirstPage.jsp They work with the NTO of the UK to certify competencies in all trades and professions. http://www.fento.org/ Look for the certifications A1 and A2 as well as V1 and V2.
Hi Msever maybe you can visit http://www.explorehr.org/category/HR_Tools/HR_Tools.html There you can download (for free) an excellent guidebook that provides a comprehensive guideline to develop competencies and also how to assess them.
Did you find what you are looking for? I am tasked with a similar challenge at my company, and I would like to share what you have found. Thanks.
