Any suggestions on a resource on how to conduct a market research?
Any input would be appreciated! Thanks in advance |

This book is a fantastic resource, although a little pricey. It is definitely worth it though.

Along a similar line as Trainer Bubble - the text book I had to use for my marketing research class - Marketing Research by Aaker, Kumar and Day is quite good and has excellent examples and case studies.
I don't know what kind of learner you are so I don't know if a book alone will help you or if you should take a class or two (or more). Have you spoken with your marketing department about borrowing a human resource or two? You may also need a course/resource in quantitative analysis so you know how to create valid surveys and interpret the results. Marketing and marketing research are very specific skills with ethical issues as well. Perhaps if you could be more specific about what you're trying to research? |

Thanks for your replies.
I am an independent contractor, so I don't have a marketing department. I am it, basically. I want to research a market that I am thinking about tapping into. I am thinking that a business book would be good. Thanks for your referring Marketing Research by Aaker, Kumar and Day. I will check it out! Thanks again for your responses. |

There are several factors to be considered in market research. They would be: Where is my business going to get the best exposure for the type of consumer I want? How should I advertise my business and/or product? Should I locate my business in a heavy traffic area with freeway exposure, or shoot for a residential area where I can target the family? Where can I get the lowest overhead? The most important market research can be done by observing, visiting, and shopping at your competition for awhile. See what makes them successful. At the same time, see what their major flaws are and how you can improve on them. Observe their clientele. Are they the type of people you want to attract to your store? With careful, planned study, market research can be an effective way to insure the future success of your business. _____________________________________________________________________________ cell phone wholesaler | hunting blind | hockey fights | stop snoring This message has been edited.
