What is the best way to tell sales managers who have never received training before that the company will now be doing a training needs assessment and rolling out training for them?

Hello Cristel:
Will the training needs assessment come as a surprise? Are the sales managers uninvolved in the process? Has the company prepared a presentation that explains why the change is necessary? |

Surely this type of information would have been communicated within any performance review discussions?

Hi CT - please see the response I provided in the other forum where you posted this question (you might want to consolidate so we can have a single discussion thread about it).

WIIFM principle.
Show them value (how it will improve their job, results, tangible benefits). Most folks, no matter if it hits them blind, appreciate something that really does improve their work/results. If you can't demonstrate this line-of-sight, the training may need some re-evaluation. David Glow dglow@tampabay.rr.com |
