I found a cool free service that might be a way to promote your business or do some social networking. I'm going to give it a try. It's a http://www.blogtalkradio.com
It let's you host your own talk show on any topic. I'm going to try one a general education or business topic. It works really well with SKYPE. If you've tried this site or something like it, I'd like to know. I provides live voice as well as online chat. |

Have actually been involved with something similar called "Learning Radio" using a talk-show format for learners to listen to a collection of topics as part of their path towards proficiency. In the Media Selection Process I consider using this format for explaining concepts.
The challenge is to work in the auditory format such that there is sufficient cognitive load to establish a learning transition. Since sensory memory is so volatile it is really important to blend in additional stimuli to engage working memory in order to transition the material into long term memory. For example, listening to the radio talk show while working on a related practice exercise or doing the actual work being discussed provides a better probability that the experience will be retained in long term memory and contribute to accelerating proficiency. So beyond business promotion this might be something to consider including as part of a Learning Path. |

Check out SLCN - Second Life Cable Network. There are all kinds of these types of shows being done live and recorded in the virtual work - Second Life.

blip.tv is also a site like these for sharing videos. I like it better than Youtube as it seems to be a little higher quality.
As far as self-promotion goes, read http://www.doshdosh.com. Lot's of great tips on free tools you can use to promote your online presence. I posted here because of the reference to SLCN. Second Life is a great way to have interviews and collaborate with others. As you may well know, IBM is pretty big on using it as an international meeting tool. They own over 50 islands and are very active in Second Life. Cisco is another user of it for meetings in particular. I am speaking at the eLearning Guild's DevLearn08 conference on using video footrage from Second Life in eLearning materials. As it relates to this topic, video taping an "interview" of yourself and posting it on one of the aforementioned sites might add a novel twist to your promotional/social efforts. Google's Lively may also be another option and does not have the restraints that Second Life has. In the end, these are just additional chat tools that certainly can add to your collections of social tools like Twitter. |
