Having been prompted to develop a business blog ( http://rapidbusinessimprovement.blogspot.com/ )- well it seemed like a good idea at the time.
It has caused me to think about the value this provides me as a consultant.
These things take time to do properly - are they worth the return?

Do you have any you visit regularly that the rest of the community would benefit from?

Question:
Blogs - vanity or an effective business tool?

Choices:
Excellent I use a lot of them
Ok I use a few
Mostly vanity - one or two are ok
Waste of time
Reduces the suppliers credibility

I've actually met a lot of interesting contacts from my blog. It does take a while to build traffic and I'm always searching for new techniques. If you want to see my blog it's www.learningatlightspeed.wordpress.com

I think it shows a 'personal' side to any business and although it takes effort I both enjoy it and think it adds value.

My blog is http://trainerbubble.blogspot.com

I use mine (breakroom.buildingbsolutions.com) as a way to flush out thoughts and new ideas. I enjoy writing, and it has been a fun way to connect with people across the globe. I don't follow all the rules though (keep it short, write several times a week, post on other blogs...) I write when I'm inspired to explore. I think if you don't use your authentic voice, it can lose the effectiveness.

I use my blog as a journal to help me flesh out a plan or solve some kind of issue. For me, writing it out helps me dissect whatever the issue may be. The benefit of doing this in a blog as opposed to something private is that other professionals in the field can also help me disect the issue at hand. Not only do the comments from other professionals help me but it also helps them come up with new ideas. I've only been blogging for a few months and have very few readers but it has been very helpful in my development.
