Hi:
I run my own learning and development company and subcontract my services as well to another learning and development organization. I would like to know about best practices regarding cancellation clauses in contracts. My challenge is that the company I subcontract my services to has a 15 calendar day cancelation clause - with no penalty. I am finding that a number of their programs are cancelled at day 15 leaving me without work for this time. Additionally in some cases I have blocked off 4 days (including travel). Now that my own business is ramping up I am in a position to book confirmed work but I'm often unable to do as I have dates are being held by the company that subcontracts to. While I suspect the company is not going to amend their contract to provide a lengthier cancellation clause/compensate me for cancelled programs I would like to know what are the best practices in this regard. Thanks, |
