At the moment, the LMS team is banging their collective head against the wall because of firewall issues and sending information from our servers to the ASP and back.

My experience has been that LMS' have become too complex. They have become extremely unuser friendly and therefore fewer and fewer people in the organization can actually use them and benefit from them. i.e. registration, reporting etc. My advice: do a thorough needs analysis of what you absolutely need and go with only that. Providers that offer more will not suit your needs, as every bell and whistle that they offer will only complicate the simple things you are trying to do.
when you say complex, what has made the system exactly complex? is it the difficulty faced by the learners in large? Could you share a previous experience, if any?
