Hi All,
Hope you all are doing well. I got a job! I was only unemployed for 2.5 months. I'm very lucky!! I do need some advice. I will be writing training content elearning/face to face for printer techs. I really don't have THAT much experience training people in this capacity. I have always trained employees and customers. Do any of you have any advice? Any tips or tricks?!? I want to be a rock star so any help you can give is greatly appreciated! |

Talk to the best printer techs to learn what other printer techs need. Create the content and get them to vet it. Pilot test it.
I'd also create handy job aids that they can put in their clipboards, shirt pockets, etc. as that will be the most beneficial thing they will receive. Run it by the experts & pilot test it. You may also want to video tape some of their common repairs. It will make the training more lively, epecially if you can stop the tape and ask them, "What's next?" Bob Pike's book as a chapter on technical training, you might want to get more ideas from that. |

Excellent advice from Frankie. Your first task should be to shadow a Printer Tech in order to fully appreciate the role and difficulties they encounter. There is nothing more difficult for technical training than understanding the needs and difficulties faced by the participants.
