I would love to see a template if you have one. This is the first time I am developig a facilitators guide for someone other than myself. I am using PPT and converting everything to Word. It takes all of the slides and notes below (which I typically use to facilitate) and puts it into a table in Word. I am looking for icons to indicate whether to indicate the type of facilitation ie. discussion, small group, brainstorming, flipchart etc. Anything you have would be great!! Please send to mdarroch@ellisdon.com

In my experience, there doesn't seem to be a "standard" for Facilitator Guides. Each organization creates their own style. Personal preference often is the driver. What's important for your Facilitators? Do Faciliator notes need to accompany Participant materials, or will page numbers suffice? Is the facilitator Guide a separate document/binder or is it combined with the Participant material? If possible, you might poll them for their preferred format. I've used a simple table with columns including Time, Duration, Topic, and Activity - just an outline. Others put this information in the Notes section of the Ppt deck. Yet others need much more detail in narrative, such as activity instructions, content or debrief questions. If using a binder format, can Facilitator notes be adjacent to the Participant page? (My personal preference). Check MS clipart for icons - I've found most everything I need there. -Anne www.hullstrategies.com
