I have recently been given the opportunity to develop a Learning & Development Department for our Bank. Previously, I was an HR Professional and focused specifically on Employee Relations, Human Behaviors, and Performance Management - more of the soft skills directed on our supervisors and executive management. I also absorbed the "Retail Training" department the past few months and am looking to develop two areas of our L & D Division: Systems and Processes and Human Behaviors.

In addition, we have purchased a new Learning Management System which will help us in developing and delivering new training material as well as tracking performance for all training.

I would welcome the opportunity to talk with any of you who have been involved in starting up a new training department within a banking environment that could offer some guidance and direction.

I sincerely appreciate any suggestions or advice.

Melodie,

I am the Training and Education Manager for a community bank. I am in the process of creating a Training Department for this company also. I just came over from another bank where started a training program.

I would love to share some ideas with you.

Hi Eric,
If I could ask for some input please: I work for a credit union and we are developing training plans for new branch managers. Would you have any thing to share.
Thank you.

I am also creating a training depart for an Ag insurance company of 500.
Not sure where you are at in the process at this point.
I have attached a basic survey to get me going.
it is in text format for acceptance, but can get you started.

I have a few other items/process ideas as well.

I am also in the middle of a start up training department with a community bank. My background is in training and not banking. Would love to chat off-line and share our knowledge. jbaldwin@cffc.com
