I'm tasked with developing a basic business acumen course (probably e-learning) for a health care/hospital setting, for front-line managers, both clinical and non-clinical. I would really appreciate any ideas. links or anything to help me get started. |

Hi MJL: So want to teach front line managers keen insight and shrewdness. As the saying goes, begin with the end in mind. I hope the company has a clearly defined vision and mission statement. I suggest you start there and define the “ideal performance level” needed to complete the mission. This should help you identify the skills necessary to achieve the “ideal performance level”. Teach those skills. I suggest you investigate gap and task analysis. Big Dog’s Training Site is a good start. Big Dog's Training Site / Analysis Good luck! Cj |

Teach them about the money. If they understand basic financial / acct'g stuff, the rest follows.

I may have some very useful information depending on what knowledge/skills you want to develop? Could you be more specific about your needs?

Just recommended this link to another gent in another ASTD forum with a similar issue.
Check out Jane Hart's list of 100 free sites to learn about business (not sure I would send your learners to all of these, but sift through, find the ones that address your key gaps, and focus them on these areas). http://c4lpt.co.uk/Showcase/100business.html Hope this helps!
