What evaluation criteria have you set for your trainers?

I have a similar request. I am looking to build our trainer community from a group of non-trainers. How do I determine if they are the right fit for such a role? What are some basic competencies I should be looking for, and how would I go about evaluating their skills, personality or aptitude?

There are certainly some aptitude tests and evaluations out there that can help you determine whether a prospect has what it takes to become an effective trainer.

Creating a rubric should not be difficult if you are unable to find one on your own. The first step is to define the compentencies you wish to evaluate. Then you will need to create the specific detail within to determine how well each trainer meets the compentency. The easiest way is to use a broad spectrum such as often, sometimes and not at all for your criteria, but more specific, well-defined benchmarks would be better.
