I am currently in a position where I will be providing varying levels of support to multiple global IT projects.
My role will vary anywhere from a very high level training consultant to a "down in the trenches" developer / deliverer of training.
To help the various project teams have a better understanding of what I can do for them, what they should engage me for, and when I should be engaged, I thought I would put together an alignment document of training activities to project phases.
Knowing that the best results come from engaging the brightest minds, I immediately thought of the ASTD forums.
Consider this your invitation to an ongoing "brain storming" discussion.

The typical project phases are: Envisioning, Planning, Developing, Stabilizing and Deploying. The phase titles are pretty self-explanatory as to the project activities occurring.
The typical "training role buckets" include: Management Role, Administrative Role, Development Role, Delivery Role, and Subject Matter Expert (SME).
I am hoping we can generate a long list of training activities, aligned with a project phase, and assigned to a training role.
For Example:
1) Activity: Gathering Training Requirements - Role: Management - Phase: Envisioning
2) Activity: Create Training Vision / Scope document - Role: Management - Phase: Envisioning
3) Activity: Schedule Training Facilities - Role: Administrative - Phase: Developing / Stabilizing
4) Activity: Administer End-User Knowledge Assessment - Role: Delivery - Phase: Deploying

Hopefully that gives you and idea of what I am looking for. So, put your thinking caps on and start throwing out your suggestions! This is brainstorming, so there are no right or wrong answers.

Thank you in advance for your input and participation!

One aspect of project work that gets forgotten is that there has to be a transfer of knowledge from your developers or BAs to the trainers to create materials. (I know it is a constant reminder for me to those people that I need the information). So whether this is just an exchange of process mapping or test scripts to something more formal I tends to get forgotten in the hussle and bussle.

Activity: Transfer of Knowledge - Development Role - Development Stage (or Stabalizing and Deploying depending on how much content is there and how big the project is.)
