Is anyone familiar with or have a forumula for determining resource needs associated with training/educational programming? Specifically, for every hour of actual training, how many hours of trainer AND administrative support are required?
1 day of delivery = 3 days of development. Add another 2 days for participant guides, instructor guide & presenation slides. This might be a bit conservative, but that's how long it took me recently.
So, Frankie, you're saying 1 hour of training needs 3 hours of development time. Thanks, that's part of the equation. The scope I'm looking for is:
1 hour of training = ____ hours trainer time (development, preparation/set up/break down, adminsitrative, etc.) AND 1 hour of training = ____ hours administrative/clerical support time (communication, documentation, materials production, etc.)
Specifically, for every hour of actual training, how many hours of trainer AND administrative support are required?
Meaning no disrespect to Frankie, but I need to chime into say that I do not believe there is any way to specify a formula that works for everyone. Also, you seem to be asking two different things. Your first post asked specifically how many hours of trainer/admin support are needed for an hour of training, but in this recent post, you seem to be talking about development of the training (VERY different question).
There are far too many variables involved for anyone to provide an accurate ratio. How experienced is the instructional designer, trainer, other staff involved? What is the content? How will it be taught? Is it learner-focused? What standards do you have in place? What paper work is required by your company? Are there compliance issues in any aspect? How much administrative support do you have? What systems do you have in place for automation? Etc, etc....
