MS is one of the few companies that could change a familiar interface (Office pre-2007) and make it harder to use and people will still upgrade.

I can just see GM puting the accelerator on the dashboard as a slider...not.

LPC,

If I were you, I would put together a series of templates using your word processing skills and knowledge of the training industry and sell them. You could possibly make a small fortune.

Kailko.

Since I've had close to a 1000 people ask me for a facilitator guide template, you're probably right.

One of the things I often to when I work with new client is to help them set up the different training documents they use into templates. This makes all their stuff look the same and saves a lot of time when they hire vendors or train staff on development. It helps them stay focused on content and design rather than style.

While MS Word has all it's plusses and minuses, it's the only program I know that's on everyone's desktop. This makes it much easier to update and maintain. When we do Learning Paths all of the documents are designed to be continuously updated and improved. As a result, we don't want the software to get in the way. However, I do like convert documents to PDFs which is just one click on my tool bar.

That sums up my issue with templates in a nutshell. The focus on documentation rather than learning.

In the vast majority of the work I do for clients, I use templates (designed by professional designers) they provide. This lets me focus on learning design.
