I'm looking for an application besides Microsoft Word for desktop publishing. Any recommendations?

What functionality do you need that MS Word is not providing? Who is the user-- ID, Training, other?

There are many programs, knowing your goals and the gaps you are experiencing might make suggestions more specific.

MS Word is pretty much the top of the line, however, there is a freeware solution that comes pretty close.

I have used Open Office before and it does most of the stuff that Word does.

If you are interested, here is the link: http://www.openoffice.org/

I have used MicroSoft Word in the past and it has some good tools, however, I find for large documents, it can get really goofy. I'm designing courseware that contains large amounts of content, diagrams, and graphics. My company currently uses InDesign, but I've never used it.

In Design is more of a graphic design tool. It is used to create page layouts for magazines and such.
