I believe the Community Guidelines could be the venue for encouraging posters to consider their questions before posting them (i.e., is this a question that will generate discussion, or do I just want someone to give me a quick answer to something that I could research on my own?"; and then to list a few "guidelines" or examples of what a good discussion question is, and what it isn't. As FF mentioned, "what is needed is a way to help users differentiate between using this forum for its intended purpose and using it as a free homework (school or job) site." I think with a few new guidelines we could accomplish this. Is this something the moderator board would be willing to do?

I'm still waiting to hear from a moderator about sprucing up the Community Guidelines to better explain what constitutes a good question for discussion versus asking for someone to do for them what they could do for themselves.
