Hi I am a Training/E-Learning intern at Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and I am doing research for the new training we are doing for a quasi LMS. We need some help in relation to number of sessions needed for an amount of people. Are there any formulas or templates to help figure out how to split up and schedule training into appropriate sessions?
This sounds like a systems training class. If it is face-to-face then we typically keep the classroom to 12 or less. Since systems can be challenging for folks to learn (even if the system is supposedly intuitive), it is best to have a smaller number to allow the trainer to walk around, answer questions, and ensure the pacing of the class is correct. If this is via WebEx, we have done sessions with upwards of 100, however, keep in mind it is best to have really great job aids as folks won't get a chance to play and learn with the facilitator. Hope this helps!

Thanks for the response. It is via WebEX and we are trying to keep the sessions small, 12-14 members. I see now that I did not describe what this is for very well. The training that is done is not for the LMS but in fact is for monitoring and managing the diabetes walks, among other things. We are taking all of the modules that we have now and bringing it under one roof. The first phase of training will be a basic covering of what is going on and what the end users can now do with the new system. We are looking at approximately 50 chapters worth of people with varying amounts of individuals in each chapter. What I am really looking for is a way to figure out how to successfully design and schedule sessions so that it is the most practical of situations. If any more help can be given or if I am still unclear please tell me! I want to thank anyone and everyone for there current and future help! Thanks!!
