Hello all –
I am new to ASTD and to the Training and Development world in general. I love it here but am struggling to get caught up on industry standards and trends. I work for a software company and we are releasing a new version of our program. I have been tasked with the design of the documentation and training documentation to accompany it. It has mostly been written but I need to figure out the style, text, pull out boxes, warning notes, screen shots, and basic flow. I would like to present some best practices and some research on what works in technology software documentation. I know they are very concerned on how to make things stand out with pull out boxes and warnings. Any ideas on where I would be able to find some information on industry trends and what not? Thank you in advance for your assistance. This message has been edited. Last edited by: mbpeders, Megan Pedersen Training Specialist HRN Management Group |

Given that you appear to be mostly interested in the documentation aspect, you might consider checking out Techwr-l the tech writers' mailing list. It is very active, and there have been discussions around that topic. They are also friendly to newcomers.
