Hello all –

I am new to ASTD and to the Training and Development world in general. I love it here but am struggling to get caught up on industry standards and trends.

I work for a software company and we are releasing a new version of our program. I have been tasked with the design of the documentation and training documentation to accompany it. It has mostly been written but I need to figure out the style, text, pull out boxes, warning notes, screen shots, and basic flow. I would like to present some best practices and some research on what works in technology software documentation. I know they are very concerned on how to make things stand out with pull out boxes and warnings.

Any ideas on where I would be able to find some information on industry trends and what not?

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Given that you appear to be mostly interested in the documentation aspect, you might consider checking out Techwr-l the tech writers' mailing list. It is very active, and there have been discussions around that topic. They are also friendly to newcomers.
