We are looking at various ways of structuring our training functions (HR/employee development, sales & channel enablement, IT, technical, product) within our organization. I am curious how other companies structure their training organization? Centralized or by function? Or a hybrid? I'd appreciate any input you have.

In addition to the varied opinions you will probably get, I recommend using the Find function here as this topic has been covered many times in many ways over the past several years.

Also - have you explored published materials about the topic?

Personally, after observing many organizations silo the heck out of their instructional designers and trainers, I would strongly recommend that you avoid it altogether. If you have to have some type of structure or your CEO's brain might explode, then I suggest some type of matrix.

Above all else - do not let any one particular group/department "own" the training function.
