Just attended CU Week in Orlando, and many Corporate University models have aspects of both.

Think of a major University- the overall University sets the strategic direction/goals/boundaries for all the smaller divisions (college of business, college of eduction, college of sciences, etc...). Most of the most successful Corporate Universities had this same structure of some global control/oversight along with responsiveness at a local level.

SarahM - I'm officially going through the process and it's not a clean one so far. My reporting structure has changed. My previous employer would like to retain my staff for her needs and while I believe it is fair I don't want to confuse my staff of the training strategy and direction. Of course, it doesn't help that my new boss and my previous boss don't have a mutual respect for one another.

Any advice for the transition? What about advice on strategic planning for training functions?
