My company is exploring the option of bringing in a conflict management seminar (1 or 2 day class). This is a large scale effort (10,000+ employees) at multiple sites around the US. Can you recommend the best conflict management/resolution sessions/seminars that you've experienced? Thanks!

Resolving Conflict

It is difficult, if not impossible, to think of a relationship of any type that does not encounter disagreements at one time or another. Unless relationships are able to withstand the stress involved in their inevitable conflicts, and manage them productively, they are not likely to endure. This can be counterproductive to the achievement of goals. Using the Thomas-Kilmann Conflict Instrument, individuals will identify their preferred approach to dealing with conflict, learn conflict management skills, understand the five basic styles for handling conflict, and implement conflict resolution steps which assist in preserving relationships. They will learn how and when each mode is typically most appropriate and understand how the overuse of one mode can be counter-productive for themselves and the people around them.

This workshop assists participants in understanding that all modes are effective, and that one is not necessarily better than another. All modes are effective if applied to the appropriate situation and if used in a balanced way. Attendees will identify their one or two modes that they use out of habit, and begin to create an action plan to develop using the other modes interchangeably.
