Has anyone been involved in using Knowledge Mgmt (KM) strategies or models to make training effective?
I'm undertaking an action research project on this at work. KM can include organization of training resources, schedules, and such. Appreciate your help! Thanks! |

Our HR Manager has taken the lead in a similar effort. We brought together approximately 6 individuals to form a Learning Team. These individuals were selected based on their experience in the organization (multiple roles in multiple departments), their knowledge of the industry, and lastly, their connection to the staff at large (well known, minimal bias, positive disposition).
Since the creation two years ago, we have established a centralized calendar of all training/learning events. This has improved attendance and communication throughout the organization. We have also defined new courses that incorporate both technical and non-technical skills into a single presentation. One particular presentation utilized two in-house financial experts explaining how funding was tabulated and one technical presenter demonstrating how to generate reports on funds raised. In a single 90 minute presentation, attendees were able to take the non-technical information, process it through a technical report and utilize the final format to assess potential prospect viability and/or steward existing relationships. Due to time constraints and limited resources over the past six months, very little new material has been created. Hopefully, more development can take place at the beginning of our next FY in July. Hope this helps! |
