I don't have any research to back this up. But if I had to hazard a guess the majority of e-learning programs are about how to use a computer or a piece of software. For example how to use presentation program, word processor, data base...

I agree with CJ- once the whole allure of web-based <enter anything here> craze was on, all these tech pieces went to e-learning in fastest possible manner.

I think trends in e-learning are the same as all of training, and company pressures and needs. Management/Project Management, Communications are probably up there. I suspect a current increase in leadership development.

Some folks are in the market to create a product for what sells now. So whatever the "hot issue" is in organizations will probably demonstrate sharp increase in e-learning offerings (not just for profit, but also for legitimate logistics of delivering training).
