Hello-
I'm new to posting the forum, but have been lurking for awhile. It's great to see the collaboration amongst training professionals. I have a question related to career paths and hoping some of you can share your insights. I have a background in sales and have been for the past several years working in an e-learning training coordinator position where I also conduct classes (f2f and web) on soft skills and product training for sales teams. In doing a lot of introspection I've determined that as my next step, I'd like to make a move into a full time technical training position. I'm enjoy learning programs and about products, but don't have any certifications yet. I understand that I'll need to work on getting some certifications, however I'm totally overwhelmed by all the choices out there...Microsoft, Adobe, etc. I'm not sure what is really in demand in terms of jobs. I also have an interest in elearning development, so was thinking possibly about trying to get a certification in some of the e-learning development programs captivate, etc. I would like to start taking classes and building up my expertise so I have few certifications. But I don't know where to even start! For someone without a technical background, what certifications/expertise are in demand and would you recommend they develop to get in order to break into a technical training position? My sincere thanks for any insights provided. |
