I have been a Contract Trainer for several years, but need and want to secure a fulltime Training position at this time in my career. I'm having a difficult time finding leads for full-time Trainers in my area of the country (Raleigh-Durham, NC). I am in the process of getting my skills updated for e-learning, which should allow me to find more opportunities. My background is as a soft skills trainer. Does anyone know of resources that may adverstise jobs for trainers besides ASTD,ISPI? Or any thoughts on a strategies I can employ to get a fulltime position.

Thanks!

Have you tried careerbuilder? There are far more opportunities listed there than prof. org. sites.

It's the nature of this career, though, that positions are few and far between - particularly during tough economic times.

Hi Trainer4you, I'd encourage you to take a broader view. "Trainer" seems very limited if you have had your own business for awhile. What problems did you solve for the organizations you contracted with? How can you apply that learning to other organizations? You are correct in seeking to update/broaden your skill set, but that alone probably won't help you find a job.

To get a broader perspective on how to market yourself and find hidden opportunities, I recommend this web site:

Good Luck!
