Hi Darcee:

There are lots of great resources to start from. I recommend a guide developed by the Department of Energy, Guide to Good Practices for On-the-Job Training. You may find Section 4, Conducting OJT useful. The guide is available on-line at:

DOE Guide
Good luck!

You may want to review the classroom management skills that CompTIA offers at: http://certification.comptia.org/ctt/default.aspx

Hi HeatherCWI,
The list you provided was incredibly helpful. It sounds like we are attempting to set up similar programs. I was wondering if you had any thoughts on a communication plan? i.e. how to keep people up to date on new Training information? I've been thinking of setting up monthly check in calls with all of the Trainers, but am not sure that is the most effective and time efficient method.

Thanks!
Darcee

Darcee,
You have gotten some great ideas here, and one thing I would add into your training content is "understanding learning styles". Critically important if you will be expecting these trainers to "develop" training material at any time, and something I've learned often gets missed. Good luck.

Darcee,

Train-the-Trainer (TTT) programme should be basically covered these topics below to meet your objectives. First of all, it should be well-organized and well planned.

* Educational communication process
* Theories of learning
* Adult learning
* Instructional design (analysis, design, development, implementation, evaulation)
* Effective presentation techniques (include visual literacy, time management etc)
* Interpersonal communication
* OJT or OJD (On-the Job Development)

Through company intranet or virtual teams you may keep your trainers up to date on any new information. You may also set an Integrated Member Development Committee included all of your trainers in companywide for an effective communication.

I hope it helps you

Good luck!
