We have a bi-weekly conference call with all of our trainers worldwide. Each call offers updates on information, upcoming releases to the software, new offices coming onboard, training via Netmeeting or Webex on subjects requested by members of the group, etc. We do a round-robin whereby we allow each member to state the status of the training developments and issues with end users or projects in their office.
We also utilize a message board where we have posts on shortcuts, work arounds, clarifications, procedures, etc. This is in addition to our webpage within the corporate website. |

Having a consistant approach to 'train the trainer' is of of the most difficult challenges an OD or training team can face.
It requires more than just common skills, it requires a consistant culture in the way that the team deliver the training. Over the years I have been hired to develop training teams and provide 'train the trainer' programs. My approach has been: 1) identify the TNA skills required for the role (if any) 2) identify the types of delivery required 3) articulate the culture of the organization. Then using this information, i develop a 4-7 day residential program for all the trainers. Developing them at the same time not only ensurs a level of consistancy, but developes the network so that they can share best practice within the organization. I have found this to be a powerful approach. Heather, I don't know about everyone else, but I think your TTT program looks like it's off to a great start. I'm currently attending a TTT program through ASTD-LA. Afterwhich I plan to implement my own program to my team worldwide. Chris |
