Seriously, it works like this:
Manager: "Mary, you know how to wind widgets. Go teach these new hires how to wind widgets."
Mary: "Whatever you say."
<time passes>
Manager: "Those new guys are winding widgets pretty well. You are the new widget winding trainer."
Mary is now the widget winding trainer. She travels around the country teaching widget winding.

Many people can be trainers if they want to do it and they learn about the job. I could probably be a marketing professional, if I learned about the job and if I wanted to be one. But I haven't and I'm not, and I really don't want to be.
