Can someone please send some examples of training templates that are effective or that they use? Just started a new job as training and development coordinator and I need something that will track what training is done, who attends that training, what reimbursement's are issued, things of that nature. I was thinking of using MS Access but i don't know the first thing about creating a database using it.

HELP

Sounds like you need a basic LMS... have you checked the e-learning forum? Lots of discussions in there.

In lieu of that, Access probably is your next best inexpensive alternative. Investigate your internal resources - you might find a guru who can provide some support. Also, since this is a business need, I would think your company would be at least willing to pay for you to attend classes on database development using Access.

We use a Lotus Notes platform and are using a Lotus Notes database to do our tracking. That may or may not work for you but we have had great success with ours so far.

Unfortunately, I don't have that on my computer. If I did, I would have tried it. It seems like my only option is MS Access. Seems as though it less costly and plus I've already signed up for some training at a local technical college here. The post from pete blair was very helpful but it's mostly for advanced users.

If you are looking to use Access (at least in the near term) check the MS Templates directories to see if there are any templates you can use either directly or with minor modifications.

Access 2003 Templates
Hope this helps.
