One of ours, for instance, has about 100 words on it. Can anyone supply guidelines for how long a trainee might need to get through (easy) text? In the majority of cases, we'll ask our trainees to do something on a given slide, but in this case, it's an introductory slide with a few comments about the training. We'll have another slide that just gives the objectives, etc.
Thanks for any comments...

I usually put a "Continue..." button on those kinds of pages, so the user can control the timing.

I strongly recommend that you do not try to time slides with any substantial amount of text on them. People read at a wide range of speeds. Those who finish early will get upset that they have to wait. Those who cannot finish will get upset too. Also, those who do not read objectives (me) will get upset that you're forcing them to read them. Why take control away from the user?

The only time I do not put a Next or Continue button on a page is when there is animation or video that I want the person to see or an interaction that I want them to use.

Always put Next or Continue. Let the user control the navigation. If you have audio attach to this simulation than it is fine to control from your side but I would still give user control of the navigation.
