Hi All,

This might be a strange question. Especially when developing E-Learning content with "chains" (if x, then y logic...) of sequences, how do you work best/concentrate?

Do frequent interruptions break your thought process for "where" you are standing right now in the E-Learning sequence of elements available in the authoring tool compared to the storyboard in front of you?

One would assume that 'developing' E-Learning content at least requires the ideal 'learning' conditions ie a quiet place to learn/develop uninterrupted (yeah right, that'll happen...)

Does anybody have any tips to keep you in the development zone?

For easy things like spellcheck, you can pretty much do this in the middle of a noisy Times Square on New Years Eve. But chains of interactions and sequences, that seems to require a bit more deep thought.

Several thoughts:
1. I seem to prefer quiet like I would guess most do. Younger people seem to be able to handle noise (not interruptions) better than older people. However, sometimes when I have a sticky problem working at home and I get too many interruptions, I go to a local coffee shop or restaurant and work there. I seem to be able to shut out all the noise and my brain says "You are here to work and you don't know any of these people so work." Babies crying are the exception.

2. Keeping in development zone: I use headphones/ear plugs that block some sound and provide an alternate thing for my ears to focus on. Works reasonably well.

3. I see no difference between storyboard and an authoring tool. Both require times of concentration and other times less attention.

My team works from home, some full time and some part time.

Giving staff the flexibility to work from home takes care of the noisy-office/interruption problem.
