I'd like to know the following about your company:
Does your company offer Education Assistance-Tuition Reimbursement as a benefit? How much does your company reimburse each employee each year? My company reimburses up to $5000 per year per employee. Does your company reimburse for online degrees? Thanks Vince Zaniewski Mgr., HR Development Training Canon USA |

Hello Vince,
Yes, my company does offer tuition reimbursement...
The reimbursement covers tuition and fees, but no other costs such as books. My understanding is that any reimbursement over $5,250 in a calendar year becomes taxable at the federal level, but I'm not an accountant, so don't quote me on that! No distinction is made between online or conventional degrees. The only concern is that the institution is accredited. In my mind, it's a tremendously generous program, but I've no idea how it stacks up to others. Good luck in your research! -Ed |

Hi Vince -- An accredited institution is an accredited institution, online or not.
I remain bamboozled by why so many of my colleagues continue to differentiate the two when it comes to benefits or credentials. |

Most organizations do not value online degrees nearly to the same extent as degrees obtained from a more established academic institution. There's not yet enough evidence to convince people that there's no downside to online degrees.
