In my organization, our departments have their own policies and procedures. They need to train employees on these policies and procedures. Was wondering what you think is the best way to deliver this kind of training and how e-learning can best be used. Thanks!

Hi Steve - can you please provide some detail here? Is the problem that people don't know how to follow the P&P or is it that they don't even know they have them... or is it possible that people know what they are, but they're not being held accountable to them? (or any other number of possible things)...
In other words -- does your analysis show that people don't know how to read and understand the P&P? Is it really a training issue in the first place? I'm asking because, typically, people fail to consistently follow P&P because they're either not aware of and/or not held accountable to follow them. NOT because they don't know how. |

Thanks LoveLearning. It's a training issue. The audience needs to be trained on processes and procedures related to procurement.

Many companies have policies and procedures in document format such as a PDF. Depending on your LMS, you can load the PDF in with an AICC wrapper. It will allow it to be inserted as a Learning Item. The AICC wrapper should record how long the document is open, and a read/understand confirmation buttom will be seen at the bottom of the page. You can then create a quick test or quiz, to make sure that the document and procedure was understood. If the learner doesnt comply, managers will be notified that the PDF was not understood, and requirements were not met. |

Done this with several organizations. Key tips:
1. Embed in course as SOP (to check/review policy where needed)- build the skill they need to use "on the floor" versus creating a "spoon feed course" 2. Single-source- link to the actual policy/policy manual, and do not copy/maintain a separate version in courseware- you will get out of synch, and the habit that you want to build is that folks will need to know HOW to access policy at time of need (don't skip this step) Done it "wrong" a few times and hope you can avoid my learning curve David Glow dglow@tampabay.rr.com |
