I work for a non-profit organization and funds are limited. How can my organization begin to generate funds for e-learning technology without sacrificing funds from other departments?

What I have seen others do is to sell eLearning to thier emember, generating the $$ to cover the costs.. steve

I agree with scase. We provide some elearning and are moving more into that area. While our trainings are subsidized, our learners have to pay something. This helps support our work and we found they're more likely to show up!

Find a business case to show how e-learning dollars invested (spent is a dirty word- please invest) will result in increased revenue or cost savings to demonstrate ROI.
Simple case- I had a CEO of a small call center company with high turnover. He sat with every single new hire and did the orientation, showed how to log in to systems, basics of the business... ... there is a $100/hr employee now basically doing $15/hr work- much of which is basic info delivery. The simple case of cost savings of the CEO doing his $100/hr work the majority of time, and cutting his mentoring time to true mentoring tasks (vs simple info delivery) made the case. I understand that will be more challenging in a non-profit organization, but if you can line-of-site show such simple positive benefits, it's usually a quick win. David Glow dglow@tampabay.rr.com |
