Has anyone's company implemented an internal wiki? I am researching the use of one for my company that would have a goal of increasing collaboration amongst our field sales force. I'm curious to learn about how your company may have addressed concerns such as: moderating, security of information, liability, etc.

We are not currently doing so, but Microsoft SharePoint 2007 supports blogs, wikis, and RSS feeds and publishing. Once we upgrade to 2007, my team will be looking seriously at this technology.

Michael, we have not gone this direction this but our experience suggests the challenges are not primarily technical. Rather, they revolve around getting a sales force to contribute quality information. If CRM updates are a challenge, I speculate a sales wiki could be worse. In addition, given changing market places, date sensitive listings may be a requirement.

Thoughts?

I would agree that getting the users to contribute versus just 'pulling' from the data would be a challenge. Some sales reps are asking for ways to phone/fax/email information in as opposed to logging into the wiki. Fortunately, I believe a wiki can record the entries, so the listings should be dated. We're working thru various legal and IT related issues now, but will do more work on the fundamental issue of 'Why do this in the first place?'...if this question is answered with a positive, value-added response, we would likely have a better chance for success.

We are looking at linking this concept into CRM opportunities tagged by product/solution. In that way, we hope to create communities of sales professionals related to specific types of deals. We hope this will increase value for the sales professional.
