Are there any other vendors out there besides SkillSoft and Element K that provide a robust e-learning environment? My organization is beginning an RFP process. I was hoping to send our RFP to more than just these 2 vendors. Please help.

Yep. Tons.

It's a little hard to give suggestions, though, without knowing what you mean by a "robust e-learning environment." With the inclusion of "environment" I'm making the assumption you're looking for an LMS. Does the same vendor need to provide all the courses, or do you need the ability to bring in third party courses? Do you need a development side to the system? Would an LCMS be involved? Does it need to be externally hosted or are you bringing it internal? Those are just a fraction of the questions that would narrow down the field.

You might want to look at Bersin and Associates' or Brandon Hall's reports on LMSs. There is also a report on LMSs available at the e-Learning Guild. You could get a list of vendors there. There are also lists on the ASTD site. Shouldn't be too tough to find something that gives you more options than you have now.

I would add that every content provider provides a LMS of sorts. However I would not go on to call SkillSoft not ElementK's a "Robust eLearning environment". They are quite limited. So I would agree with jtcadd that you did not give enough information to be able to answer your question. Are you looking for a generic off the shelf content provider. The 2 you listed are 2 of a few hundred. Or are you looking at an LMS? if an LMS there are (literally) 847 LMS's sold in north america. The 2 you listed are near the bottom as far as features are concerned. If I can help further feel free to email me at scase20@juno.com I will share what I know (or think I know :-) )

Hi Jim,

I'd love to discuss your learning needs, and if it would make sense, submit a response to your RFP. You can reach me at tbraning@bizlibrary.com.

Thanks,
Tom
