I’ve been in the market for an LMS to be used to train employees in my company for a quite while now, and haven’t found one I liked yet. One issue that stands in my way is that we are a small company, and we don’t really have an IT staff. Another is that I don’t have a large budget to work with. Therefore, I want to find something hosted, easy for my company to use, and cost effective. I’ve looked at a few, including Moodle, but a lot of the training I want to do involves using videos I’ve already created. It’s a bit of an overwhelming task and every system I find seems to only have “some” of the features I want. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!
Welcome to the board Learningeveryday! I was contacted by the folks at LeanringZen a few months ago about their new LMS and found it really easy to use. Here is the address http://www.learningzen.com It's also hosted so you don't need to use any IT resources to maintain it. They definitely do the video stuff you were mentioning in addition to things like images, flash, audio, word...I would start here and see if you like it. I should mention that the public site is completely free but they also have a private option that is still really low cost at $4999. Good luck!

One of the challenges with Moodle for a small business is that you have to have a decent IT staff that can support it. It takes some training to use,and you also get a lot of artifacts "or features" based on Universty training that you might not want in business training. Free is not really free. I'm checking out learningzen.com as ontheroad posted, I'm suprized, it's pretty cool. Other than that one, you are going to need a decent size budget for a hosted solution. What's your price range?

Moodle was my first consideration, but the more I looked into it everything I see posted leads to believe that free is not free with them. To be quite frank, my budget is incredibly limited. We are a small business and every penny that comes in keeps us afloat enough to continue. However, we have a great need for e-learning and workplace training. I'd be willing to spend a few thousand, but not much more. I'll certainly check out LearningZen as another viable option, I took a look at the site and it looks good. Ontheroad: Is it new? What's the difference between the free site and private site?
