I'm looking for help finding a way (system) to administer tests via the web and then permit the learner to down load and print his/her own certificate. I'm getting buried in paper and getting carpal tunnel syndrome from stuffing envelopes.
Our instructors currenty conduct courses throughout the country at our dealer locations. The dealer/learners then fax in the tests which I enter into an Access database (260 keystrokes per record) at about 200-300 per week. Then I print certificates, stuff them in an envelope and run them thru a postage machine (no way I'm going lick all those envelopes and stamps...:-(
I'm not looking for a do-it-all LMS, just a way to perform online testing and certificates.

Anyone out there have any suggestions or using something that may help me?

An abused Instructional Designer

As far as an out of the box solution. I have not heard of any.

We needed the same solution and spent the time to create an online log in portion of our website. Here user can register, log in, view courses, and take tests/assessments (essentially a small LMS, without all the fluff). If they receive a passing score they can print a certificate.

This was all developed in house, and with the right person wouldn't take that long (a week). But then you have to deal with updating the tests, ours were flash, among other administrative issues that come up.

I think the Atrixware Weblearning system may be a fit if you want to give it a try (www.atrixware.com/weblearning). It is primarily a quiz-delivery system, and enables you to create custom certificates per-quiz.
