Greetings all,
As part of a software training program, I want to show learners how to format text. Specifically, I want to show our learners how to make text bold. If I create a text entry box so the learners can type in a specific sentence, there doesn't appear to be a way that I can make the text in that text entry box show up in bold -- as it would, if they have successfully completed the steps I explain in advance.
I could create a movie and just show them, although of course I'd rather that they experience it.
Thanks for any suggestions.
Kathy
P.S. This involves a WYSIWG editor but not a word processing program.

Which of the following most accurately describes your steps?

Scenario A:

1. User types text: it is not bold at this point
2: Tutorial instructions
3. User performs instructions and text is changed to bold

B:

1. Tutorial give sinstructions for setting up the text entry field to display bold text
2. User performs instructions
3. User types text - it is bold

Preferably the second one, where they're given instructions first, they follow the instructions, and their text appears in bold. Thanks for any ideas.

I've never owned Captivate, but I did use RoboDemo, it's predecessor.

In RoboDemo, you can set the font properties for the text entry box, including bold. When the user types in something, it will be in bold. In RoboDemo, the font button is on the Text Entry box properties form.

If that ability is not in Captivate, there is a tutorial creation software called Wondershare Demo Creator you can buy for $69. I didn't buy it, but I did download the free trial. It will allow you to do that.

Scenario A can be achiveed by "doctoring" the screenshots. If you would like more info, let me know.

I don't believe there's any way to do this in Captivate, but you might be able to build it in Flash and then include it in your Captivate file.
