Since you mention "edit", I assume you are looking for screen capture as opposed sscreencast. In general, a screencast is a live event. There are lots of tools to do this, but if you want editing, you probably want a screen capture. You may mean that you want a live screencast, then editing of the recording, I am not sure from this breif question.

If you check with google, you will find multiple tools for screen capture. I have used Cmatasia with great success.

Hello,
Thanks for your help. I have 28 years experience in L&D, but I'm not used to using technology very much at all. I'm mentoring a person who is quite familiar with technology. The questions actually come from her. Please note that she works in a library, so she doesn't have a lot of funds at her disposal. Thanks tons for any help you can provide.

Hi qpq,

As far as I know, there are three tools with AICC/SCORM complicance could help you to do that.

1. Adobe Captiveate: $699.95.
2. Techsmith Camtasia: $399.95.
3. Wondershare DemoCreator: $99.95.

Both Captivate and Camtasia with powerful features consume CPU resource.

Captivate integrates Quizzes on it and special for training.

Camtasia could record playing video and running powerpoint.

DemoCreator is easy to use and particular for creating software video tutorials, help videos and so on.

Libraries should be able to get nonprofit/education pricing from Adobe. (~$250 for Captivate). Also libraries should be eligible for discounted software through Tech Soup. http://techsoup.com/
