Keeping learners motivated is a topic for any type of learning, it just seems more prevalent in e-learning. The key is ACCOUNTABILITY - what does the learner have to lose if they do not complete the elearning module? Is their job in jeopardy? Does anyone care?

One thing we have done is send reports to managers regarding compliance and peg one region/dept against another - it is amazing what a little competition can do!

I agree regarding accountability, but I would stipulate that the accountability should not be focused on completing the learning. Rather, it should be on whether or not the learner is applying what was learned --- a very difficult thing to accomplish with e-learning alone. I would re-examine the entire setup. Was e-learning the best delivery mode option? Are there better solutions that would enable a complete learning cycle?
