We are discussing implementation of a learning strategy that will combine e-learning, web-based learning, video streaming, and sound. We have 7 office locations in the US and the Caribbean - and have a Citrix-based technology infrastructure. We would like to push video and sound out to all users in all locations for individual access at their desks - however, our infrastructure does not allow that at this time. I would like to know how others push e-learning, etc., to their employee population. How is your supporting technology system set up to allow 24*7 access at one's desk or at home?

You can have your e-learning content and management system hosted by a Learning Management vendor. Many vendors will offer you an agreement for that kind od service.

Hi sbbowen,

I happen to have experience working with multimedia e-learning in a client's Citrix environment. There are unique challenges presented by Citrix because the audio and visual medias are actually delivered on separate channels and thus synchronization can be a challenge. We did discover some good solutions, however. If you're interested in learning more, please contact me.

I agree with Czrrin, work with a LMS vendor as an ASP solution. A word of caution, be careful with "video" (Unles you mean flas) Video can be very large, cause problems and become very frustration for the students. Look at files sizes and how long it may take to load. If possible, I would always suggest staying away from video on web based apps.. (my 2 cents) scase20@juno.com

Hi sbbowen,
I experience the same case with yours. I happened to be the training officer in Indonesia, as an island country. the internet connection even the worst i think, it's only 40 kbps for browsing and 3 kbps for downloading. I also have to deliver some video to all branches across the country ( there are 20 branches now). but thanks to microsoft, there is a MS movie maker freely installed in windows XP. all videos I converted using it and save it as .wmv file. I even can choose, what size of the output movie i want.put the result on your web.
then using IE, people just have to click on the link and get the streaming video with fairly good quality.
sorry, I am not promoting anything, but my suggestion is, try using any video converting software you can have, and find the best size-to-quality combination.
