Does anyone have any experience with developing training using UPK? We are in the process of rolling out massive volumes of training and are trying to decide between buying content or developing within.

Thanks!

If you haven't already made the decision to purchase UPK, I highly recommend it. In addition to delivering lots of training material, this tool provides a great method of delivering just in time training.

We used UPK at a client site last year and were impressed. You won't necessarily get as slick of end products as you would by purchasing several sets of software with specific purposes (such as Captivate for sims), but the single source functionality is great. You have to go through the logistics of entering proper instruction for each topic. But once you do, it's click and produce.

Thanks for the insight! Just a couple of other questions come to mind.

- Did you buy the off-the-shelf vanilla content or just the developer license?
- Are you able to go outside the Peoplesoft application (i.e., website or Word doc) to show true end-to-end processes? It seems like Global Knowledge has an add-on to the base Oracle-branded UPK product.

Thx!

We went outside PeopleSoft and did other content development. It is the best sim maker product I've used.

One issue is you are able to create an insane number of lessons quickly. In one course we had 142 modules. If you are using an LMS, make sure the LMS supports resequencing of the lessons for different audiences or you will have to repackage the content, republish and it's a pain.
