What would you say was essential reading for an instructional designer? Or to put it another way what would you expect an experienced instructional designer of e-learning to have read?

I would also recommend any of Ruth Clark's books, such as " Developing Technical Training Developing Technical Training" and/or " e-Learning and the Science of Instruction e-Learning and the Science of Instruction."
