Can someone help me with the difference between Captivate and Lectora. I am just about the begin developing e learning and have been trained in both tools. Which one is better?
Hi Debra -- in my experience, that's very much like asking if a phillips head screw driver is better than a flathead screwdriver. They both are extremely similar and do the same job, yet you carry both so that you're ready for either type of screw head. So...it really depends on the type of screw you're dealing with.
Thanks for your reply. I'm new at this and am confused. My organisation has purchased both Lectora and Captivate (recommendations)to commence the production of e learning and I'm just confused about the difference between them. It seems to me that Captivate has a better screen capture tool than Lectora - is that correct? can you omport Captivate screen captures into Lectora? Or am I going down the wrong path?
We use both. We use Captivate for software simulations and for adding narration to Powerpoint slides. We export the Captivate files to swfs and then import them into Lectora. A button in Lectora launches the swf in a separate browser window.
We use Lectora as the interface for courses since it easily publishes to AICC/SCORM. Navigation buttons for the course are in Lectora. We develop most of our non-Captivate content in Flash or Swish.
Captivate is really made for software simulations. I think Captivate has a lot of potential to do more, but I find it a bit buggy and I am growing to hate Adobe for its lack of technical support and high pricing. Lectora has excellent support.

Thanks Scooterpdx for your help. I am now having trouble exporting Captivate into Lectora. I save the captivate as a *.swf and the click on add animation and import but that where I have trouble, exports something, but not the captivate file. Any hints??
